Three Proven Ways to Put Your List Building Efforts Into Overdrive

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

How long have you been struggling to build your list? List building can be a very long process, but you have some options that will put your list building efforts on a much higher level:

1. Give people a free report to sign up for your list: If you have some articles about your niche that you’ve already submitted to directories or used on your web site, they’re very easy to put together into a report. If you don’t have articles to use, buy some private label rights articles and create a report with them. Then, on your list building page, just above the opt-in box, you might insert, “Sign up for your free report on ‘Making Your First Million Online’,” or whatever your niche is. Or, use the report as the purpose for people to come to your list building page entirely. Either way, you’ll see a rapid increase in sign-ups.

2. Find a good co-registration service: Co-registration is when your newsletter, ezine, or mailing list is advertised alongside the advertisements for other newsletters, ezines, or mailing lists. My free site List Hero is a co-registration site, for instance, but you can also join places like List Opt or List Builder Pro. With a free service, you simply advertise the co-registration box on your web site, as a pop-up or pop-under. You earn credits for showing the opt-in box and for each credit you accumulate, your ad is shown somewhere else. Or, some services just advertise your site for you. These are usually paid co-reg services, and the prices vary. Usually, you buy a certain number of subscribers each month, depending on how fast you want your list to grow and how much you want to spend. Whatever you decide, co-registration is a quick way to get things moving.

3. JV: Joint venturing is working with another business to grow your list faster. You can do this in several different ways, of course, but I found the fastest way is by setting up a teleseminar. So, you call the other business owner and say, “I’d like to help you sell your product. Would you be willing to do a teleseminar with me about…” and it would be something that solves a problem for the people in your niche. For instance, if your niche is golf and the other businessperson sells golf clubs, you might have a teleseminar about using the best putter or driver or whatever. Then, you get the other person to mail to their list and send them to your list building page. Voila! Instant list building. You can drive targeted web site traffic there in several different ways, too.

Of course, there are many ways to go about list building. These are just three of the quickest ways I know to make it happen. If you have some money to spend and don’t want to waste much time, then co-registration may be the ticket. Or, if you want to build business relationships, try a joint venture. But if you’re really new and don’t have a very big budget, then you may just want to compile a report and let it work for you. Each way has advantages and drawbacks, but whatever you decide all of these ways will really improve your list building efforts, almost overnight.

List Building-Prying Little Beady Eyes

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Have you ever gotten great emails from people that say what a super information product they have to tell you about, and then, when you get to their squeeze pages, you’re asked a whole ton of personal stuff?

That just sucks!

Nobody I know would give up that personal information without even agreeing to buy a product. How intrusive can you get? If you want to build your squeeze page like that, you’re going to lose a lot of business. Trust me.

All you should ask for–all you should ask for–are people’s first names and email addresses. Nothing else.

Here are some things that go through people’s minds when they see those prying little beady -eyed opt-in boxes:

1. Why do they need to know my physical address? Are they going to sell my information to snail mail junk people?

2. Why do they need my telephone number? Do they intend to call me every day to sell me things? I’m on the Do Not Call list!

3. NObody, I mean, NObody gets my social security number.

None of these pieces of information are appropriate for list building. Not only that, but they’ll decrease the effectiveness of your list building efforts dynamically.

If you’re already at the payment options page, and you need some of that information for delivery of, say a physical product, that’s one thing. But that kind of opt-in box will just totally annihilate your list building intention.

Mesothelioma Cancer Facts

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Mesothelioma is a form of cancer caused by exposure to asbestos. Over time, cancerous cells develop in the mesothelium, a protective lining that covers most of the body’s internal organs. Only after several decades do symptoms begin to show, and often because of this delay, by the time mesothelioma is diagnosed it is too late for treatment to be effective.

Mesothelioma is rare, with a rate of infection of only 15 per 1,000,000 in the United States in 2004. It is most often found in individuals who encounter asbestos on the job, such as shipyard workers, people who work in asbestos mines and mills, producers of asbestos products, workers in the heating and construction industries, and other tradespeople.

There are three primary areas mesothelioma can develop, the lining of the lungs and chest cavity known as the pleura, the lining of the abdominal cavity called the peritoneum, or the sac surrounding the heart called the pericardium. Each form of mesothelioma cancer has its own specific symptoms, but there are many symptoms that can be found in all of them. Such symptoms include coughing, fever, shortness of breath, chest or abdominal pain, and fatigue.

Because the symptoms of mesothelioma are so general, it can be very difficult to diagnose the disease. This, combined with such a long delay before symptoms begin to develop often means that little can be done to help the patient. The most common forms of treatment are radiation, chemotherapy, and sometimes surgery. Unfortunately however, these treatments have been unable to increase the survival rate of mesothelioma victims beyond a few months.

How to Keep Your Home Safe and Secure

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Keeping your home secure for your family is an important task in this day and age - before you decide what home security systems to implement, take all factors into consideration, such as the location of your home and the crime levels where you live. Depending on where you live, a home alarm system may be something you must have, or an extra precaution to ensure your family is safe and protected.

Statistics show that most burglary attempts on homes with a home security system end up in failure, which is why they are often recommended by experts as a way to keep criminals away from your home. In fact, most burglars skip houses outfitted with home alarm systems altogether, due to fear of apprehension. Clearly, in most cases installing a home security system is the best way to deter thieves.

Home alarm systems have been proven to safeguard your home, and insurance companies even offer discounts on your premium if you install a home security system, so there are several benefits to setting up equipment that will monitor your home and keep burglars away. Fewer claims come from families that have extra security precautions, which is why you can get a lower insurance rate by installing a home alarm system. And of course, the money you save on insurance will help pay for the system itself, so it’s a win-win situation all around.

Unfortunately, most people install a security camera only after something bad happens and they’re scared enough to take precautions. But why wait until your home has been compromised and you’ve already lost items that are precious to you? If protecting your home and your family is a priority in your life, it doesn’t make sense to wait for a burglar to strike before you set up a burglar alarm. Get security cameras installed now and you can avoid a traumatic event at a later date.

Burglar alarms are effective at keeping criminals away from your home when you’re present at the residence and when no one is home. There are different security systems for different needs, but if you plan on having the most protection possible, consider purchasing a system that works well whether you’re home or not. An attempted burglary while everyone is home can be a very scary experience, so it pays to make sure all bases are covered.

Basic security uses contact sensors on doors and windows, with a couple of infrared sensors for the interior of the house - these systems usually also come with a control panel and alarm sounder. Some security systems are even equipped to deal with other emergency situations, including fire, smoke, dangerous gases, and flooding. The system you end up buying should fit your specific needs and the requirements of your home.

Home security systems work on many levels to protect your family - they provide prevention, by scaring and deterring intruders, and detection by letting you know when someone has entered the premises. They also offer emergency help by putting you directly in contact with help, such as the police and 911.

Cruise Line Tips

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Cruise vacation is fun. A lot of people are discovering the fun of cruise vacation each year. You will want to do a little research before taking cruise vacation. How long are cruises? The 3-day weekend, 4-day midweek, week long, 10 day are all popular.

Where do cruises go? Cruises go just about all over the world such as the Caribbean, Mexico, and Alaska. Each cruise line has its own taste. You may find economic cruises to super luxury cruises. Two Caribbean cruises can be totally very different experiences.

Is it possible to go on a cruise by yourself? Yes, it is possible. But if you go by yourself, the rate can be as high as 200%. You will probably end up paying for two cruises, if you go by yourself. If you really cant find anyone, you may want to find a single share program. Basically, the cruise line will help you find a roommate. Even if they cant find a partner for you, you will probably get the cabin at the cheaper rate. If you are lucky, you may find a great friend. However, it is also possible that you may end up with a bad roommate.

The type of cruise you pick will make a difference in your vacation. So you want to pick it carefully. You want to do research to make sure that you pick the best one. Cruise ship is your whole vacation. The great cruise for your friends may be the worst cruise for you.

Halloween Humor - The Twisted Trick of Tacky Treats!

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

It’s Halloween time, and that means candy! You can’t walk more than 10 feet without seeing something about child obesity in America, and yet no one cares at all when it comes to Halloween. It’s like a modern day Hansel and Gretel, only instead of being shoved into an oven by a witch the kids are going to suffer a slow death due to heart disease and diabetes.

Don’t worry, I am not going to proselytize about how you should not give out candy this year. On the contrary, I believe that if you are going to participate in Halloween, you should do it all out. One night a year, I am ok with the free flowing unrestricted distribution of the “white powder” (aka: sugar).

However, some of you will resist the pull of sweets and try to give out alternative treats. Here then are a few guidelines to help you make your Halloween decisions easier. Proceed with caution; your choice of Halloween treats should never be taken lightly

Fruit - Let me start out by stating it plain: Fruit has no place on Halloween. 364 other days of the year, sure, get healthy. But on Halloween, you should never give out apples instead of candy. Or boxes of raisins (Ewwwwww!). No kid, no child, no one, nobody, nowhere wants a piece of fruit in their Halloween bag. They can get fruit from their parents! Plus, fruit is heavy! If you’re walking around from house to house all night, the last thing you want is an apple orchard in your bag.

Do you really think you are somehow inspiring change? You are not. You might be inspiring hundreds of apples to be dumped on your lawn, or hurled at other trick or treaters (not that I would know anything about that). If you really don’t want to buy into the Halloween obesity machine, then go with the lesser of two evils and give out money or gift certificates. If you are going to be truly obstinate, then you can try other non-candy options: bags of Goldfish (the crackers, not the animal, though if you did give out water filled bags with little Nemos in them, I would certainly applaud your initiative), pretzels, and even non-food items like stickers or crayons. Can’t say I would be too happy myself getting crayons or stickers, but I wouldn’t hate you like if you gave me an apple.

Money - Overall, giving out money is a pretty poor strategy. When I was a kid, if someone gave change, the thought process was, “come on! Where’s the candy!” Kids will think you were too lazy to go out and buy a few bags of candy (and they might be right). You would have to give out a decent amount of money to make them appreciate it. The rare dollar bill would elicit an, “ok, that’s cool,” but then you could blow through a week’s paycheck in your quest to not give out candy.

There is a very interesting business lesson here. While the real value of the money you are giving out is greater than the cost of the small piece of candy, the perceived value is actually much less. You may whine and moan about how the kids should be happy that they are getting money, and that they can then use that money to buy whatever they want, but most kids won’t see it that way. Most adults wouldn’t see it that way either…

Lesson: Your logic is meaningless. All that matters is what the customer perceives.

Then there are the people who give pennies and nickels. I won’t deign to comment on you.

Gift Certificates - Gift certificates are a safe and simple way to give stuff out. Unfortunately, they take away the immediate gratification element of Halloween. It’s like when a well meaning aunt gives you a U.S. Treasury Bond on your eighth birthday - it’s all very nice and practical, but you can’t very well unwrap it and go play with it that day. (can you guess that this happened to me?) And now the child will have to convince his parents to let him go to McDonalds to redeem his coupon, which can more difficult than trying to convince Britney Spears to have a modicum of self-respect. Of course, once you are there you’ll be tempted to buy a value meal. Talk about the fattening of America! You’ve gone from small pieces of candy to full blown fast-food meals. It gets worse and worse.

Toothbrushes and Floss - Hard to believe, but it happens. I would love to be inside of the head of someone who makes the decision to give out toothbrushes on Halloween. “Hey, I know! Kids are going to be eating all sorts of candy tonight, and if I give them a toothbrush then at least they won’t get cavities! I am so brilliant and clever!”

Come on. You do realize you are accomplishing nothing, right? The kids already have toothbrushes at home. If they are not brushing their teeth, your little brush is not going to make them suddenly dentally responsible. No child is going to look at your brush and say, “hey, maybe I should give some consideration to the health of my bicuspids.” In fact, no child will even give your brush a second look. Mom will take the toothbrush and throw it into the medicine cabinet for future use. You have essential helped a family with their sundry shopping.

I don’t care if you are a dentist, dental hygienist, work for Oral-B, or are Laurence Olivier from “Marathon Man;” save the toothbrushes for the office.

Informational Pamphlets - I read a comment from someone who said that in his neighborhood there were two houses that would hand out pamphlets explaining why Halloween is Satanic. I don’t need to make a joke here, it kind of writes itself. The only thing worse would be getting an informational pamphlet about proper brushing and flossing.

Which would still be better than fruit.

Candy - The best choice. However, I think it’s time that we, as a society, standardized on candy choices. I remember some Halloween nights coming home and feeling like I had a huge bag filled with candy, but when I dumped it out there was at least 50% of inedible dreck in there. It’s like being excited to go a blind date with someone your friend has been hyping up to you, only to find yourself sitting in a restaurant across from Sloth from the Goonies (I’m sure he/she has a great personality).

There are too many great candy choices out there to justify giving out nonsense. You can’t go wrong with Snickers, Hershey’s Twix, Reese’s, M&M’s, Nestle’s Crunch, Kit Kats, etc.

And yet, for Halloween, people give out candy that is the equivalent of Christmas fruitcake. Nobody likes it, nobody eats it, and nobody even understands it. I propose a ban on the following: O’Henry, Payday, Smarties, Now and Laters, Circus Peanuts, and 90% of anything manufactured by Brach’s.

Here’s a rule of thumb: Next time you are in a supermarket or convenience store, take a look at the candy section. Not the bulk candy aisle, but the individual candy bars section, like at the checkout. If the candy you are planning to give out on Halloween warrants a place on that aisle, you are usually safe giving it out (Paydays being the exception, of course). If not, well, there’s a reason that candy isn’t popular enough to be sold on its own…

And now it is time to discuss candy corn. Another Brach’s specialty. What the heck is up with candy corn? It’s like the Great Pumpkin: it only comes out at Halloween, no one knows where it comes from or what it really is, and only one or two kids in the entire world anticipate its arrival. It tastes like fermented plastic. And no one ever, *ever* buys candy corn for themselves. Have you ever been hanging out with friends or family and heard somebody say, “You know what I could go for right now? A giant bag of candy corn”? Ever? Me either. It’s the “Soylent Green” of Halloween candy.

If you are sitting there considering sending me an angry email saying, “I love candy corn!” then stop, step away from the keyboard, and go see a doctor. You have eaten too much of it, and the alien chemical components of the candy corn must have seeped into your brain and impaired your judgment.

The candy corn manufacturers must have the world’s best marketing department because year after year they get people to buy this stuff even though no one likes it. There’s a lesson there: Even if your product is terrible, you can still sell it.

Have a great, happy, and safe Halloween, and please, give out your treats with caution.

How Ghost Writers Create SEO Advertising Articles That Go Viral And Attract Tons Of Residual Traffic

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Most people including some ghost writers imagine that SEO advertising using promotional articles works in the same way that conventional advertising does. Actually it DOESN’T.

Promotional articles do not give you the best response instantly. Rather they will give you targeted, valuable traffic for years to come.

The traditional way is to advertise to as many people as possible hoping that a large enough percentage of them will immediately respond and boost the sales of whatever it is that is being sold. It is then possible to quickly pass judgment on your advertising and how effective it has been in getting you sales because as soon as you stop advertising, the response stops.

SEO advertising with articles is very different.

For starters everybody knows that a well written SEO promotional article will remain online forever and will therefore attract residual traffic for years to come. A small percentage of the people your article pulls in will link to it from their sites or blogs after reading it for the first time. Others will re-post it at their sites or re-publish it in their ezines complete with your resource box (if they have found it at some popular article directory). What all this means is that some of the good people who read your article will cause hundreds and even thousands of others within their circles to read it. That’s online viral marketing at its best.

To create this kind of content and SEO advertising promotional articles, a ghost writer will need to churn out articles that inspire while giving out valuable and useful information. Smart ways to do this almost instantly is to focus on customer problems and then write articles that solve some of these problems.

Gas Lift Bar Stools - Easy Lift to Bar Interaction

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

When you hear the phrase “extra tall,” what quickly comes to mind? One might say a building, or a person, a set of clothes, or yeah, even candles. But these days, furniture can be that, too.

Take gas lift bar stools, for example. It is named such because of the gas spring, which is used to adjust chair height. When applied to bar stools, this invention, patented in 1972 to Drabert Soehne of Minden, Germany, creates flexibility and ease of use by matching the height of the stools to the height of the bar counter. Bar stools lifted by gas spring departs from conventional seating height and literally takes face-to-face bar interaction to a higher plane.

The Bar: Melting Pot of Drink Lovers
If you are a sports fan who likes to share your viewing experience through large-screen television while enjoying drinks with your buddies, you most likely frequent bars. If you’re a dance patron who likes to swing to your favourite beat over drinks or just a regular fellow looking to wind down after a busy day, bars are a welcome destination.

The Bar Experience: Heightened Interaction
While bars are generally known to be places to drink at your whim - mixed drinks, beer or liquor; entertainment and socialization pervades the atmosphere. Let’s face it; it’s hard to imagine entertainment in isolation. Social interaction is an essential mix in the picture. The structure of a bar provides a unique dining and drinking experience characterized by the specialized counters on which drinks are served. Of particular importance are the uniquely designed stools that serve this purpose. Gas lift bar stools are high chairs with padded seats, usually without armrests and back, but with a foot rest. The design and contours of bar stools largely affect seating posture and its ease of mobility assists the flow of interaction among the seaters. They provide unassuming comfort and a casual, almost rugged flair to bar lounging - factors conducive to an atmosphere of free-flowing talk.

Comfort Level
The flexibility of gas lift bar stools sees to it that you sit in a comfortable height from the bar counter and more importantly; you interact with your friends on an eye-to-eye level.

Gas Lift Bar Stools: Unlike Fixed Height Chairs
Let’s look at some of the inconveniences of conventional or fixed height chairs. Its lack of height adjustment capability forces you to strain your neck either to look up or down the people you’re with. Also, it excludes people of a certain height from fitting comfortably on the seat. The absence of rotation and tilting ability as well as a swinging movement - all remedied in the design of gas lift bar stools - makes conventional chairs fail in comparison.

Raising the Bar of Casual Interaction
Gas lift bar stool is your kind of chair for a natural high. They get you settled in a physically relaxing end-of-the-day talk and drink perks. They can turn your tired mood about and get you playfully swinging around back to form. Talk about a lift to cause a twist!

When it Comes to SEO, Are You in Line With Your Industry?

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

While there are many people who have never heard of SEO, there are also many who are taking advantage of its benefits. There are several industries that have a larger knowledge base in SEO. Its easy to tell which industries are utilizing SEO tactics and which arent by the quality of organic results on the search engine results pages and by the amount of paid listings. A few industries that are competitive in SEO that Ive identified, and a few that are obvious, are:

* Real Estate

* Insurance

* Car Dealerships

* Funeral Homes

* Gambling

Why are these industries taking advantage of SEO? I believe its because consumers expect them to be. All of these industries represent expensive items. People have learned they can go to the internet to research these items before purchasing. And the people within those industries have realized that they need to be in front of those consumers during their research phase if they want to gain that lead. Companies within these industries, who are not taking advantage of SEO are probably losing business to someone who is.

But there are also many industries who are not incorporating SEO into their marketing plan. Many of them include:

* Health care providers (doctors, dentists, etc.)

* Local restaurants

* Auto mechanics

* Specialty retail shops

Most, if not all, of these and more rely on word of mouth and drive-by/foot traffic. Our business manager, James, says the most common response when talking to someone in these industries is that their primary target market is not searching on the internet. In most cases, I find this hard to believe. I know I have searched for one or more of these services, and an increasing number of people are, too, every day.

Usually the real reasons for not using SEO are cost and fear. Many of the industries above that are not involved in SEO are putting their marketing money into traditional marketing such as TV, Newspapers, Billboards, and Phone Book ads. All of these have a finite life span and can be very expensive. Yes, setting up a Web site and starting an SEO campaign can be expensive upfront, but there is no time limit on how long it will last, and it wont continue to cost as much money in the future.

However, fear can be a bigger obstacle to over come than cost. Many people are afraid of trying non-traditional marketing methods. Whether it is a fear of the unknown or fear of technology, it prevents people from committing to online marketing. I think with time this fear will diminish, and people within these industries will need to give in to the demand of the consumer. Many consumers are beginning to expect to find most things online, and companies that cant provide what people are looking for will fall behind in their industry.
