All scrapbook pages need to have a descriptive title. It is amazing hoe a well chosen word can tell the story behind the photos. A descriptive title points to the event behind the scene without taking a lot of space on your pages. In using a collage format, your title becomes an essential design element for you pages. You can take a 6X6 block and add several different words in various fonts, styles, and colors to create a striking collage. Unusual and sensational words might make more of and impact in the collage format, so don't shy away form wordy titles.
Here are a few tips to create your own title collage. It may take a little time and practice to master the perfect lettering styles, but design each word to be different. It really doesnt matter if a title or two isnt perfect.
Sketch your collage first before you do the real thing. Count your words and then separate them into different sizes and fit cut them to fit in your title square. Remember that they will all fit in your 6X6 square if you flip and rotate each word carefully. Decide which words you would like to have as your focal points. Remember these words should communicate the experience and not just who you were with and what you were doing.
Mix your title words into vertical and horizontal boxes. You can make your smaller words like "a" or "we" into narrow and skinny boxes to add verity.
Experiment with you lettering and mix different shapes and styles together. Try not to match the font types for all you words, and find a font that matches the words you want to use. If by chance you have empty spaces, fill them with embellishments and accents.
Use different colors as your background. Create a monochromatic look by using different shades of the same color as your background to you words. You can also tear the edges to give a unique look.
Once you decide on the perfect collage, you are on your way to a wonderful title to add to your scrapbook layout.
